Hi Everyone!!
My watercolors are wet, the phone is ringing, new frames are coming, mats are being cut, and we are bustling with excitement in preparation for my FIRST exhibit in California!
If you’re local, come to the opening night- Sept 25, 5-9pm live at the Design Table.
We will have a live DJ, oysters, and so many beautiful artists sharing their work live at the Fairfax Art Walk.
I fell in love with this shop and the vibe Elizabeth curates. Besides the most gorgeous flowers, she has built a community around a beautiful wooden table- where people gather to create. We will have a watercolor workshop there later this year, so stay tuned…
I’ll have originals and prints for sale at a fraction of the cost.
All the images can be reproduced on exquisitely fine art paper, and I’m having real pros work on it- with perfect color matching and everything on beautiful watercolor paper.
So if you can’t come in person for the show, you can still order prints – Just email me. I am sending a batch to the press tomorrow.
I’d love to talk all things watercolor and art and beauty and magic with you!

SHOW BIO
Ishita Sharma is a multidisciplinary artist and contemporary spiritual embodiment teacher based in Marin, CA. She lives in awe of this Human Life, and paints to share her love of it!
Simultaneously soft and stark, technically rigorous yet poetically ephemeral, her watercolors invite us into the same joy and enchantment they are born of. Tracing the love affair between light and shadow, form and space, unknown and known in brushstrokes, she coaxes our capacity to pause, see and feel what is, and in doing so,
transform the mundane into the miraculous- whether beholding the contours of a belly button, a humble radish or the depths of our own human hearts.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I make art in many media. Watercolor in particular though, offers a humbling mirror for Life. Here, unlike all other mediums, brush strokes can’t be hidden or doubled. It is honest. One has to work skillfully with the flow of Life- literally- and quickly, within the pressing constraints of time. The paper space becomes Light itself and my brush obscures it to reveal form. We work together- I paint one part, the ineffable paints another.
This series of watercolors was born of enchantment and invites you into everyday wonder. The red berries were painted in my winter cave through frost, the figs as they burst fecund in the heat of summer. The figures are quick captures of 5-15 minute poses from live models. Painting allows me to honor what is, devoting loving attention to elicit the essential nature of my subjects. To meet the essence of things, of people, is like kissing the Divine…
It’s an unfolding surprise- will my brush capture the curves accurately before the sheet dries? Will there be a little miracle where the water carries ink of its own accord? Will you feel the essence of the sacred mundane, and the Grace of being alive?
