the shoe seller

I am in love with the world.

There are many ways to love it and all that is in it, but lately the only thing that makes me come alive is finding a moment of stillness in connection with another human being. I watch mesmerized as strangeness dissipates for just one intimate moment unearthed between awkward conversation and a hundred shots when for that one second, everything stills, shyness disappears, the self vanishes and what remains is the naked reflection of the soul- stripped. Real. Magnetic.

The next few posts will be dedicated to strangers I met on a recent sojourn around the homeland…faces from the mountains of Kashmir that mirror the complexities of a land plagued by both incredible hardship and heavenly beauty.
